Yaz DVT

Over the years, studies have suggested that thousands of women who have taken oral contraceptives with the hormone drospirenone, like Yaz and Yasmin, are at risk for serious health concerns involving blood clots such as Deep Vein Thrombosis.

Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a health condition that occurs when a blood clot forms in one or more of the deep veins in the body, usually in your legs. DVT may cause leg pain, but often occurs without any physical symptoms. While a Yaz DVT blood clot is not dangerous on its own, it may potentially break free and pass through the bloodstream, where it may cause serious injury to the heart, lungs, brain and other essential organs.

Typical symptoms of a Yaz DVT can include:

  • Redness
  • Swelling
  • Warmth
  • Pain or weakness
  • Loss of color, loss of sensation, or paralysis in an arm or leg, and
  • Blood in the stool

Bayer Pharmaceuticals, the maker of Yaz, is liable for injuries like DVT caused by the drug. Due to their failure to properly warn women of the risks, lawyers have helped the thousands affected file a claim to recover for their loss.

If you suffered a blood clot such as a DVT after taking Yaz, it is recommended that you speak with a lawyer as soon as possible. Substantial compensation may be available, however, time is very limited.

In a case of Yaz DVT, blood clots that break free may cause strokes, heart attacks or pulmonary embolism in the lungs. The FDA has continuously issued warnings to women taking Yaz or Yasmin about the serious risks related to blood clots.

In October, 2011, the FDA released a study which followed more than 800,000 women taking oral contraceptives between 2001 and 2008. Those taking drugs such as Yaz had a 75% increased risk of these harmful blood clots occurring.

In 2009, The British Medical Journal released a study in Denmark and the Netherlands showing that women taking drugs like Yaz were at a higher risk of developing blood clots.

Lawyers have helped thousands of women experiencing health conditions, like Yaz DVT, file a lawsuit for their damages. They are also among the few to settle Yaz cases to recover compensation for their clients. These lawyers are available to discuss your case as soon as possible.

Drug injury lawsuits are complex legal issues. It is important to make sure the lawyer you hire has experience fighting large drug companies and the resources necessary to finish the case in your favor.

The Yaz Risks Center only recommends lawyers and law firms that have already settled Yaz lawsuits.
